Traditional teaching methods are teacher-centered methods. Teachers seem frightening and authoritarian. The teacher only explained the material, give examples, and assignments to students. These teaching methods should be changed to student centered. Students should be given the opportunity to construct their own knowledge and develop them according to their talents and abilities. However, a teacher is difficult to abandon the old paradigm and towards a new paradigm.
Learning at SBI offered an opportunity for teachers to use the choice of teaching methods that are tailored to student ability levels and teaching materials : method of exposition by the teacher, the method of discussion between teachers and pupils and between pupils and students, problem-solving methods, methods of discovery (investigation), basic skills training methods and principles, and methods of implementation.
In SDSN, learn to be creative that is based on: knowledge on the various dimensions which include the nature, justification and occurrence; objects in various dimensions which include the nature and origin; the use of formal which include its effectiveness in science, technology and other sciences; and practices on various dimensions more generally, including the activities of the elementary students.
Learning activities in SDSN is that teachers are able to deliver the students are creative and skilled in the areas of: learning is the search activity patterns and relationships, learning is the creativity that requires imagination, intuition and discovery, learning is an activity of problem solving, and learning is an activity to communicate.
The nature of how students learn at SBI are: students will learn if given the motivation, students learn in their own way, students learn independently and through cooperation, and students need a context and situations vary in their learning.
That teachers are better able to realize the revitalization of learning that fosters the creativity of elementary school students in organizing the teaching and learning through the preparation stage, the stage of learning, and evaluation stages.
In SDSN, teachers have three main functions: as a facilitator, teaching resources, and monitor student activities. Thus, teachers can develop learning methods are at variance. Study or reference source is the central point in learning.
